If you don't feel comfortable doing this, don't do it. If you feel comfortable messing with the Registry you can try this: Evidently the bottom icon row was conflicting with something in the bottom left and right corners of the screen. To -900 and the problem has been resolved.
Mine originally were -963 for Icon Spacing and -913 for Icon Vertical Spacing.

Is Microsoft working to solveĮvidently the Update that started the problem had changed the Icon Spacing and the Icon Vertical Spacing values. I keep looking forward to the new builds only to be disappointed in them not curing this problem. I have read all of the suggestions concerning this problem and tried many of them with no success in solving this problem. I have Auto Arrange turned off and aligned to the Grid on. it has not received the 1703 update yet and it does not have any of the shifting desktop icons. My second Windowsġ0 Professional (圆4) PC is still on version 1607, build 14393.1358. Two updates ago, after the update was completed, all of the icons were bunched on the left side of the screen. If I right button drag the icon and select Move, the icon remains there until I restart the PC which shifts the icons again. when I left button drag an icon there, the whole bottom row of icons shift toward the opposite corner and some jump to the next grid position up from the bottom. Those corners appear to not want any icon to be placed there. The affected icons are the ones across the bottom of the screen and generally the ones nearer the lower left and lower
The rearrangement occurs after shutting down the PC and restarting it. No problem with "moving icons" until version 1703 was installed. I have had my desktop icons arranged around the outer edges of the screen for over a year with I have been using the Classic Shell to have the preferred Windows 7 desktop look.
